SHOULD READ - A well detailed French prisoner-of-war-style bone and horn model of a 42 gun frigate - 7½ x 12ins (19 x 30.5cms) with bound masts, yards and stunsail booms, standing and running rigging and deck details including carved male figurehead with top hat, hair rails with carved rope edges, anchors with bound wooden stocks, belaying rails, gratings, stove-pipe, bell canopy, balustrading, deck-rails, companionways, upper deck guns, two ship's boats, one in chocks and one in stone davits, with thwarts and oars and other details. The planked and pinned hull has horn strakes and carved stern and quarter window details. Mounted on two bone supports on decorated straw work base with leaf decorated bone edgings. Glazed mahogany case (later). Purchased Christies London Lot number 336 15th April 1993
