Early Large Wunda Shield, Lombadina Area, Western Australia. Carved and engraved wood and natural pigments Description Of elongated ovoid form, the front with deeply engraved broad bands divided into five sections to form a zig-zag motif, infilled alternately with red and white pigment, the reverse similarly engraved, divided into eight bands and decorated in red pigment, with raised loop handle. Approx L118 x 17cm. PROVENANCE Aboriginal and Oceanic Art, Sotheby’s, Sydney, 9/11/1998. Lot No. 364. John Magers Collection, Sydney.
